Home Insurance Coverages
Definitions of Coverage:
Dwelling (Coverage that protects the structure of the home (roofs, walls, frame, etc.) According to my Replacement Cost Estimator, this is the amount it would cost to rebuild your home using new materials.
Other Structures (Coverage for sheds, detached garages, fence, driveway, walkway, workshops, as well as other structures on the premises not attached to the home itself.)
Personal Property (Coverage for personal items (i.e. clothing, furniture, toiletries, some technology.) Provides coverage on and off your home premises. We suggest that personal property is covered at replacement cost, which means the carrier will pay you the full amount that it will cost to replace your item with a new one. We also suggest that if available, your roof is covered with 100% replacement cost.)
Loss of use (Coverage for when an insured must move out of the home while repairs are made because of damage caused by a covered loss.
Personal Liability (Pay for damages the insured is legally obligated to pay due to bodily injury, sickness, death, or property damage to others. This also pay for your legal defense if the matter goes to court.
Medical Payments (Pays for medical and/or funeral expenses insured by a person on or off the insured's property. Regardless of legal liability.
Personal Injury (Pay for damages the insured is legally obligated to pay due to libel or slander. In simple terms, this is "you hurt my feelings, business, or reputation insurance." This type of injury may allow you to file a personal injury lawsuit against the at-fault party to recover compensation for the negative financial consequences of their actions.
